European Respiratory journal out-of-ICU NIV
If there’s something we can #learn from the COVID pandemic, we must learn it to #prevent any recurrence. The study published by the European Respiratory Society #challenges the hypothesis that NRS (Non-invasive Respiratory Support) – i.e. high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), noninvasive ventilation (NIV) – should not be used outside the ICU during pandemics. The conclusions? In patients with #COVID19 infection and Acute Respiratory Failure, ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ป๐ผ๐ป-๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ (๐ก๐ฅ๐ฆ) delivered outside the ICU, was #feasible and #effective but associated with a risk of staff contamination. But this was the situation before the advent of #BioRespira and ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ to demonstrate that we can #savemorepeoplelives. We will keep you posted!
